Avondale Collaboration Steering Group

The Avondale Collaboration is an informal network / collaboration group with no current intention to constitute as a formal Incorporated Society or Charitable Trust. The Steering Group's role is:

  1. To convene the Avondale face-to-face network meetings and create / manage associated communications

  2. To support the groundwork for projects within the Collaboration’s oversight

  3. To develop and implement methods to reach and bring into the Collaboration and Network more individuals, groups and organisations by identifying those who are not currently part of the Collaboration and its projects, but could be and invite them along

Steering Group Job Description

Participate in Steering Group and smaller group meetings and contribute to the accomplishment of tasks between wider Collaboration and Network meetings

Provide timely and constructive feedback and evaluation for event and activity proposals

Help to provide the Collaboration with adequate volunteers

Be an advocate for positive collaboration and committed to the Collaboration's vision, mission and purpose and will uphold the Collaboration's values and ground rules

 

Steering Group Size & Process for Joining

The minimum size of the Steering Group is 5 and the maximum effective size is 15. Anyone interested in joining the Steering Group can contact the Steering Group via the group’s administrator. From time to time the composition of the Steering Group will be reflected upon by the group. Upon a new member joining the Steering Group that new member shall sign an agreement to uphold the Collaboration Values and adhere to the Collaboration Ground Rules.

 
 

Steering Group Composition Guidelines

The Steering Group will seek to be composed of:

People who represent different segments of the community, including stakeholder agencies and organisations, who can help:
a. Build widespread buy-in and community involvement
b. Represent different stages of the life cycle, diverse interests, and cultures
c. Link the Collaboration and its projects to the community

People with skills, energy and passion that can do the work to lay the groundwork for the success of the Collaboration and its projects

People who can work positively, collaborate well, enjoy collaboration and contribute to group energy and synergy

 

Administration Support Funding

Currently administration support of the Collaboration & Steering Group (i.e., meeting invites, setting meeting times / venues, meeting notes, supplies etc.) is provided by two Steering Group members, Melissa Yalomatua and Mandy Siita, and is funded by the Whau Local Board with Community Waitakere as the funds holder.

 
 

Facilitation & Decision-Making

Facilitation of the Steering Group is shared among Steering Group Members who are willing. The Steering group has a kaupapa of making decisions by consensus.
